Cyclic sulfates of pentaerythritol dinitrate

New mixed nitric and sulfuric esters of pentaerythritol, viz., 5,5-bis(nitroxymethyl)-1,3- dioxa-2-thiacyclohexane 2,2-dioxide and 5,11-bis(nitroxymethyl)-1,3,7,9-tetraoxa-2,8- dithiacyclododecane 2,2,8,8-tetroxide, were synthesized by the reaction of pentaerythritol dinitrate with sulfuryl chloride (followed by alkaline treatment) and bis(chlorosulfonyl)pentaerythritol dinitrate, respectively.n.
